Possible water source

In order to make further progress, we must leave Lockhart Basin and head south (S05P05), initially along a shallow drainage, to enter the Indian Creek area. There may be water available in this creek. After following the canyon in this area alongside the creek, it is then a surprise to find that we need to ascend a large sand dune in order to proceed. On a hot day, this is an exhausting section. We then find ourselves following several dirt roads again, before arriving at the Needles Outpost (S05P10). There is a campground here, and a small store with a good selection of basic food items, toiletries, gas, etc. The friendly folks running the Outpost will also look after a food cache for you.
